Interested in Learning Minecraft?

One of the best qualities families love about our Emagination Tech Camps is that students in attendance are not necessarily forced to engage in any particular subject. There are many camps who are very narrow in the scope of what they can offer campers, but we pride ourselves in providing as many options as possible so students can let their creativity run wild as much as possible.

We’ve found that the more in charge a camper gets to be about their experience, the more fun they eventually have. Funny how that works, right?

Depending on the session a student attends (whether it’s one or two weeks long), they have the opportunity to choose between two and four out of 21 total STEM-focused courses, which is just awesome. A popular option among many students has been the “Minecraft World Design” tech course.

Minecraft World Design at Emagination Tech Camps

For the summer of 2021, this course will be available at our in-person locations, as well as our virtual tech courses option, so there’s something for everyone, regardless of the setting you’d like to take this course in. It’s only available for campers that are between the ages of 11 and 17, and it doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or an advanced user of this software -- all types of users will be able to learn and get something useful out of this experience!

If you’re planning on taking this course at one of our on-campus locations, there are two things we’d like you to bring from home: one is a 32G Flash Drive, and the other request is to have a free Mojang account so you’re ready to hit the ground running once we start. If you’re planning on taking this course virtually, the requirements go a little deeper than that -- a Chromebook or Netbook won’t be sufficient to get everything you’d want to learn out of this course. You’ll need a fast internet connection, a computer (obviously!), a webcam, and a microphone.

We’re excited to let our campers unleash their creativity while developing independence and using self-direction in what’s considered a sandbox environment. It’s not all going to be independent work, though. Campers will work together in a shared world to acquire resources, maintain health and hunger, along with achieving goals of creating, destroying, and adventuring through challenges that our counselors create for them.

For all of our courses, we enjoy specifically calling out what campers will be learning and creating during their time. For the “Minecraft World Design” course, campers will not only learn and hone their teamwork skills, they’ll also learn how to manage and budget resources. As for what they’ll create, campers will walk away after building a custom house, a community base built with their fellow campers, and a custom Minecraft world.

So, whether you’ve always been interested in the Minecraft software, or you’ve been involved for quite some time and want to take your experience with it to the next level, this course is perfect for you. And, instead of this being the only type of STEM-related experience you have at one of our camps, you’ll be able to choose, at the least, one more subject to learn about within your fully customized schedule.
